The athletes were thanked for their hard work, commitment and dedication to their athletic pursuits by Lord Mayor Bradbery.
While the Academy's catchment reaches as far as the Shoalhaven and Southern Highlands, the bulk of scholarship holders reside in Wollongong. In total, 105 Academy athletes are Wollongong City Council residents
Former Illawarra Academy of Sport athlete and two-time Olympian Jarrod Poort was on hand at the event to speak to the athletes about the key role the Academy played in his sporting career and the importance of remaining dedicated to training throughout the ups and downs that emerge during a season.
