Mine was kept quiet for so long, so being able to share my story [I can] hopefully inspire and help change other peoples lives.
- The Next Step dancer Briar Nolet
It comes as the 20-year-old admitted in recent weeks she has struggled with epileptic seizures which nearly halted her dance career altogether.
"A lot of people suffer [from illnesses] when you don't see their injury," Nolet said.
"Mine was kept quiet for so long, so being able to share my story [I can] hopefully inspire and help change other peoples lives."
A dancer since seven-years-of-age, the star first began suffering "blankouts" not long after she turned 16.
These episodes evolved into debilitating fits though would only occur when she was doing what she loved most - dance.
The seizures continued for years but Nolet did not want to give up her passion.
At one point they were misdiagnosed as anxiety and there was pressure from family and friends for her to quit dancing.
In 2017 Nolet finally met with a neurologist, and after testing her brain activity they diagnosed her with epilepsy - a disorder of the central nervous system.
"A lot of people have reached out to me with family members themselves who have epilepsy," she told the Illawarra Mercury.
"It's been so heart warming to see all the messages - that's probably one of my favourite parts [of being a celebrity] is helping people struggling with something I that I through and can relate to."
Nolet said she loves being part of The Next Step television show, but ultimately would love to be working in action films and incorporate her modern dance and contortion into stunts.
The Next Step - Absolute Dance is travelling to capital cities and regional centres in September and October. It will stop by Wollongong for one night only on Thursday September 28, 5pm.
