BACK TO THEIR ROOTS
Congratulations Prime Minister Scott Morrison on winning the 2019 Federal election, an election that the majority of Illawarra voters believed to be a Labor/Greens victory. The questions now being asked are, "where did we go wrong?". Well the answer is simple.
There was a concerted attack on retirees through proposed changes to the franking credits, negative gearing and capital gains tax, an increase in tax on Shortens "top end of town" salary earners.
The other major issue was the proposed 50 per cent renewables by 2030, 45 per cent emissions reduction (which would have had dire consequences on the economy and made no difference to the Australian or World climate) , the proposed reduction of coal fired base load electricity generators, the closing of all coal mines.
These were changes that just went too far and last Saturday's election results proved that beyond a reasonable doubt. This planet has been going through climate change since it's beginning and will continue until the sun no longer shines and human kind no longer exists, but we have no control over nature no matter what we do.
Yes, we need to take care of this planet by keeping it clean but all nations need to be part of it not just a small group of ideological fanatics that have created a "climate religion " frightening school children about their future. Labor needs to get back to its roots and represent the working class not the latte-sipping Greenies of Melbourne and Sydney.

MISSED THE TARGET
All is still well in the land. The silent majority of Australians has rejected a would-be, hard-left, socialist government. Let's all hope politics of identity, division, and envy never again become tactics of those on the Labor side of politics.
Instead, let's hope that Labor shows more respect for aspirational Australians, young and old, and not merely see them as political punching bags and targets for cheap tax grabs.

STOP THE NONSENSE
In response to the letter by Peter Corkish, "A Pivotal Period" (Illawarra Mercury, Saturday May 11, 2019), for the confused kiddies brainwashed into climate activism and the panic merchants freaking out over climate change, just stop the nonsense. Claims by climate scaremongers "we have more floods, bushfire, droughts and heatwaves" is easily discredited given Australia has suffered more serious droughts, bushfire and heatwaves in our past which is on record.
The real concern is the green agenda that will wreck the economy, lower living standards, impose immoral behaviour such as national pro-abortion legislation and a gender commissioner. Taking away our freedom to think, freedom of religion, imposing green-morality while discrediting Christian morals and attacking the traditional family is what we can expect from a Labor-Green government.
