The session will be at the Thirroul Community Centre's Escarpment Room from 11am-4pm on Saturday, May 25.
Wollongong Coal has contracted consultant firm Umwelt to assess the environmental and social impacts of an expanded mine.
"At this session local residents will have the opportunity to discuss the revised project, hear the outcomes of technical studies and provide feedback for consideration in the assessment process," Umwelt said.
Wollongong Coal wants to use less-damaging bord-and-pillar mining techniques under the water catchment land above Russell Vale, instead of the more invasive longwall method.
The miner hopes to complete its environmental assessment this year so it can try and win approval to re-open the mine at Russell Vale, which has been mothballed since 2015.
