The White Eagles staggered out of a 4-nil Bert Bampton Cup defeat at the hands of Port Kembla and into a five-goal thumping by Tarrawanna.
But coach Paul Carter hopes their mid-season wobbles have ended after prevailing 2-1 at Ray Robinson, the winner coming from a corner about 10 minutes from time.
"We were a bit lucky with the winner, but we needed to have some luck after a bad week," he said.
"It's hard, because we've had a couple of injury niggles during the week as well, all the signs were pointing the wrong way for us.
"Fernhill work hard and they're well organised, you always know it's going to be a contest and being down at half-time, we just had to keep going.
"It's a long season, we're still in a good position, we just need to keep working on that consistency."
It's been a remarkable rollercoaster, give Albion Park put eight part South Coast United before the stunning slump.
Cody Wehmeyer was a standout in midfield in the win, scoring the equaliser to reward Carter for the call-up to the top grade.
In the wash-up, Albion Park still remain in the title race, but four points behind leaders Olympic.
"We've certainly got the talent," Carter said.
"Some weeks we can be breathtaking, other times it's like we just met each other."
Elsewhere, Tarrawanna kept pace with Olympic by repelling Corrimal Rangers' challenge on Saturday.
Haydyn Lloyd opened the scoring for the Blueys after 12 minutes, before Stephen Lloyd sealed it with 20 minutes remaining.
Olympic came from behind to beat Port Kembla 2-1 on Sunday.
Sandy Lowcock opened the scoring in the 27th minute off a deft Luke Boersma pass, but Olympic levelled it two minutes later when Yusuke Ueda converted from the penalty spot after Julian Minutillo was ruled to have been infringed in the box.
John Martinoski then finished neatly from Ueda's assist to make it 2-1 after 39 minutes. The Stuart Beedie rescue mission has started in impressive fashion, as Cringila held high-flying Wollongong United to a one-all draw on Sunday, meaning the Lions draw level with South Coast United, who lost one-nil to Woonona.
