Eight subscribers and their 'plus one' joined some staff from the Mercury in the Chairman's Club for the St George Illawarra Dragons clash against the Cronulla Sharks.
The subscribers won a lucky draw competition, which included premium seating, a drinks package and a three-course meal before the game at a function in the exclusive Chairman's Club.
Injured Dragons' star Corey Norman addressed the pre-game function.
It was the latest in a series of unique experiences being offered to digital subscribers by the Mercury.
"It was a really enjoyable afternoon spent with great people," Illawarra Mercury editor Julian O'Brien said.
'While the result didn't go the Dragons' way, it was great to share this experience with some of our loyal readers.
"It's a way we can say a simple 'thank you' for supporting us on our digital journey.
"There will be other experiences and opportunities coming up later on the year so if you are a digital subscriber keep an eye on your email and if you are not, hurry up and get on board."
The Dragons' function followed on from a special subscriber event at the Wollongong Spiegeltent for the feature cabaret show, Deluxe, Deluxe, in April.
The Mercury also hosted a table of subscribers at the International Women's Day Lunch in Wollongong in March. The subscriber functions were launched with a special event at the Shellharbour Civic Centre late last year.
As well as the events there have been a number of ticket giveaways to various concerts and performances throughout the region. There will be a number of other subscriber events coming up.
"One I'm looking forward to immensely will be a night tour of the steelworks and I'd expect the positions on that tour to be highly sought after," Mr O'Brien said. "We'll also have giveaways to Disney On Ice and circus spectacular Zirk! coming soon."
