The Academy set up a stand outside Wollongong Woolworths, with athletes manning the collection point throughout the weekend.
The Illawarra Academy of Sport possesses a wider focus on athletes beyond pure sporting development, with the Academy attempting to develop well-rounded individuals both on and off the sporting field.
As such, athletes are required to give back to the community by volunteering for a number of community causes throughout the year, with the Red Shield Appeal one such cause.
The athletes raised more than $1300 in cash, as well as numerous debit and credit card donations.
The Illawarra Academy of Sport has maintained a long-running relationship with the Salvation Army's Red Shield Appeal.
