That has been part of the success of this region in recent years and it has certainly helped open new doors of opportunity for the city of Wollongong and the greater region of the Illawarra.

A couple of months ago, the Illawarra Mercury got approached by Cycling Australia to help rally some community engagement behind the 2022 UCI Road World Cycling Championships.
The idea bloomed into a logo competition which would not only engage discussion and action in the local community, but might also come up with a logo design the organising committee might be able to consider as the eventual logo for this event.
Only a couple of weeks in we are seeing entries coming in and the early signs are wonderful.

If the entry from Southern Highlands graphic artist Edwina Grant is anything to go by the competition judges will have some exciting choices to make.
