NSW Police said the woman was travelling between Moruya and Wallaga Lake when her Holden Trax SUV left the roadway and crashed into water sometime after 11pm on Wednesday.
Police said the woman regained consciousness just before 4:30pm Thursday and was able to phone a relative but was unable to provide a location.
A search involving police, NSW Ambulance Fire & Rescue NSW, Moruya State Emergency Services (SES), Narooma Volunteer Rescue Associatio, and the Dalmeny Rural Fire Service ensued.
They used the mobile phone system to identify where the woman may be.
The Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter was also called in to assist.
The female driver - the sole occupant of the car - was eventually found trapped in her overturned vehicle in Kianga Creek.
The woman was freed from and treated for suspected fractures and exposure before being airlifted to Canberra Hospital in a stable condition.
