David Leigh
David Leigh, of Kiama, has been awarded the Emergency Service Medal (ESM) in recognition of his exemplary commitment to the safety of his local community and to the work of the NSW SES. Mr Leigh has been a member of the NSW State Emergency Service for 25 years. Read more.
Doreen Bryars
Doreen Bryars, 80, has been involved in the Arcadians theatre group for decades and is the musical director of two choirs: the Minstrels Singing Group and the Lamplighters Male Choir. Read more.
Chris Craner
Wollongong's top cop can often be seen in the ring with boxing gloves on or on the field throwing a football to kids, not sitting behind a desk. That's because Superintendent Chris Craner is passionate about getting out in the community, talking to families and trying to get children involved in programs rather than crime. Read more.
Richard Poon
Richard Poon has been awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for his service to the community through emergency response organisations. Much of his work has been with St John Ambulance. Read more.
William Swan
Barry Swan started at South Bulli mine, as his grandfather did in 1924. He was leadership material, and he rose to become the general secretary of the Miners' Federation Australia-wide. His OAM is for services to the coal sector, and for him the work on black lung was the peak. Read more.
Victor Chapman
Indigenous educator Uncle Vic Chapman has been dedicated to bettering the lives of Aboriginal youth for more than 65 years. Chapman, from Woonona, has been honoured during the Queen's Birthday Honours with an AM for significant service to the Indigenous community, to tertiary education, and to the visual arts. Read more.
Ronald Smart
Dr Ron Smart is receiving an OAM for service to music and Sierra Leone. He is the founding chairman of Auburn-2-Africa, organising events such as Australian Choral Grand Prix and Top Brass' Band to raise funds for the construction of a primary school in Sierra Leone. Read more.
Yvonne Repin
Yvonne Repin is being awarded an OAM for service to music. Ms Repin has been secretary and orchestra manager of New Steel City Strings Inc since 2015 and was founder and manager of what was formerly known as Steel City Strings. Read more.
Terry Prosser
Barrack Heights resident Terry Prosser has seen kids grow into champions under his guidance as a canoeing coach. Mr Prosser, 78, volunteered to coach marathon, ski and sprint canoeing for 40 years with Illawarra Canoe Club. He has been recognised for his service to canoeing. Read more.
David Smith
David Smith has spent most of his life high in the sky - either jumping out of planes or flying them. The Mount Warrigal resident, 71, has now been recognised for his years of service to the skydiving community with an OAM as part of the Queen's Birthday Honours. Read more.
Pamela Bowmaker
A military widow herself - her husband served in Vietnam - Pamela Bowmaker has dedicated herself to helping veterans of the armed forces in any way she can. Mostly it has been through the Vietnam Veterans Association, a 37-year association during which she has served as president, welfare officer, secretary and treasurer. Read more.
John Fletcher
Two days after the sudden passing of Kembla Grange life member John Fletcher, We're Off - a horse he had an owner's share of - saluted at $21 on Wagga Town Plate day. Fletcher was still making a shining contribution to the racing industry he dedicated most of his life. On Monday, the 89-year-old will be posthumously recognised with an OAM. Read more.
