A Wollongong police motorcyclist allegedly detected a blue Toyota sedan travelling 124km/h in an 80km/h zone along Memorial Drive near Campbell Street on-ramp at 8.45am.
The officer attempted to stop the car with lights and sirens but it turned left into Rothery Street, Bellambi.
As the car travelled over a rise, the driver lost control, skidded and rotated 180 degrees remaining on the correct side of the road eastbound.
While the car was still slowly moving, the driver and a passenger have jumped out of the car and run along Hollebon Road.
The car was still in drive gear causing it to swipe along a power pole and collide with the stationary police motorbike.
The officer lost balance and the motorbike fell over.
He detained the two remaining passengers, a 25-year-old man and 22-year-old woman who were later released after they assisted him with his inquiries.
The policeman sustained a small abrasion and soreness to his left shin as a result of the collision.
Police have spoken with the registered owner of the car, who is assisting with inquiries.
Police are trying to locate the driver of the vehicle.
