Next week students from The Illawarra Grammar School will present TIGS' annual senior school production of High School Musical: On Stage.
They will bring to life the popular 2006 Disney film written by Peter Barsocchini and directed by Kenny Ortega.
Effron, playing East High School basketball star Troy, and Vanessa Hudgens as new girl Gabriella, lead the singing and dancing hit.
TIGS teacher and producer Brody Toombs said it was fitting TIGS' 60th anniversary celebrations included staging High School Musical: On Stage.
"High School Musical is a fantastic celebration of involvement in sports, arts and academia," Mr Toombs said.
"It highlights that we can in fact do both. That when we help our friends, something special can be produced."
This view was shared by fellow teacher, director Helen McLean.
"It has been such an amazing collaborative experience putting this show together with many multi-talented, incredible students and teachers.
"It will be delivered with high energy, some seriousness and a touch of cheesy humour," she said.
High School Musical: On Stage will be staged at TIGS from June 20 to 22. Shows start at 7pm on Thursday and Friday, and 1pm and 7pm on Saturday.
Tickets cost $25 (adults) and $15 (12 years and under). Details on 4220 0200.
