Seeing youngsters "come alive" during this process dictated the theme of this year's Southern Stars spectacular.
Over 3000 public school students from 100 schools will perform during the Southern Stars 2019 COME ALIVE extravaganza on August 23-24.
Some of those featured singers and dancers were on hand to launch the event on Wednesday.
They were joined by executive producer Paul Roger, who said the theme of Southern Stars 2019 COME ALIVE originated from many discussions about how children were transformed by participating in the performing arts.
"They really do come alive through the process of rehearsals to the final thrilling performances," Mr Roger said.
"We see our students before our eyes, grow, learn, thrive, and flourish, and it's a truly beautiful process to witness.
"Performing gives them such a deep joy and it's the reason each year that we work so hard to give them the best professional arena and platform to make it happen."
Two circus troupes, the NSW Public Schools Millennial Marching Band, a rock band, 600-strong choir, 10- strong Aboriginal dance ensemble, a large student orchestra, boy's vocal ensemble and over 2000 enthusiastic dancers will feature this year.
Incoming creative director Ian Millard said there would be more variety than ever in 2019.
"There will be a huge build up to the finale as well, we're going to do something that we've never done before, but I have to leave a few surprises for patrons," Mr Millard said.
About 12,000 patrons are expected to attend one of four COME ALIVE shows taking place at the WIN Entertainment Centre.
Tickets are on sale for Southern Stars 2019 COME ALIVE from Ticketmaster outlets and online here.
