GETTING OVERLOADED
We are now seeing what effect the input of so many new people to the north and south of Wollongong is having on the Wollongong Hospital: Staff cannot cope. North of Wollongong Hospital is being "flooded" with new dwellings.

I understand the Ex Corrrimal Leagues Club has been cut from 270 to up to 150 max? Still too many. Up to 50 over the new ALDI in Russell Street, plus all the new villas that are being built on large blocks of land around the Corrimal and surrounding areas.
All these incoming residents must have an overload factor on our supermarkets. Woolworths and Coles are packed out after 10.30 am even disabled spaces are hard to find. The library, swimming pool, local shops, doctors, specialists, podiatrists are almost unavailable to drivers who need a parking spot. And we haven't seen the big developments yet.
Has anyone tried to get to Wollongong on the Distributor between Bellambi Lane and Towradgi Road during the hours of 7.30 to 9.30 am? It's like a Sydney peak hour. What's it going to be like if they allow the Corrimal Coke Works developers to install up to 700 new homes?
You have to voice your disapproval on The Coke Works Development by developers who have swooped in to make "a quick buck". What a wonderful green park, leisure area for the locals and their children this area would make. Something that is sadly disappearing from the over development of land.

A LACK OF INFLUENCE
Time Magazine, issue April 29-May 6, had, as a feature brief biographies of the 100 most influential people.
There was not one Australian considered worthy enough for inclusion. Says it all really.

BLAME THE GOVERNMENT
A contributor wrote that a lot of passengers had to stand all the way to Sydney on a morning train. The writer was sort of blaming the school students for not giving up their seats to allow the elderly or pregnant women to have a seat at their experience.
I believe the blame should be placed directly on the feet of the government as everyone who has a ticket should have a seat. This is not a suburban train where people are only standing for one or two stops.
This is a intercity service with a duration of at least an hour and a half.
This non-caring government should be accountable for these on going occurrences and do something about it sooner than later.

PATENTLY WRONG
Ian Young (Illawarra Mercury, June 19) contends that people in detention have not committed a crime. This is patently wrong.
The crime they have committed is attempting to steal the places of genuine refugees who have gone through the correct processes for obtaining entry to Australia. They arrived in our waters with no documentation despite having travelled through numerous countries to do so.
How did they enter and exit those other countries without papers? How do we know who they really are? This is why they are in detention camps and why they do not deserve to come here.
