Thousands of people are expected to swoop to Berkeley on Sunday for the fifth Illawarra Annual Bird Sale Expo.

Run by the Illawarra Parrot Club, the June 23 expo at Illawarra Sports Stadium will feature many exotic and native birds, including lutino and albino quakers, blue and gold macaws, Asiatic and Amazon parrots, cockatoos, budgies and finches.
Club secretary Steven Gallo expects upwards of 2000 people to attend this year.
Bird enthusiasts will be flocking to the expo from around the Illawarra, Queensland, Inverell, Gosford, Canberra, Orange and Victoria.
"I can't believe how popular the show has become over the years. You can pick up a general bird for as low as $5," Gallo said.
He added female macaws were the most common popular birds that people bought.
"But in saying that a lutino macaw did sell for $60,000 a few years back," Gallo said.
"A lot of enthusiasts are into special breeds nowadays so we are seeing a lot more variety of birds at the expo."
The expo runs from 10am-2pm. Entry costs $2, under 12s free.
