Thousands of people flocked to the Illawarra Sports Stadium in Berkeley on Sunday.
Exotic and native birds for sale included lutino and albino quakers, macaws, Asiatic and Amazon parrots, cockatoos, budgies and finches.
The blue-and-yellow macaws were certainly a crowd pleaser with many families wanting to take a peak at the exotic bird, which can sell for thousands of dollars.
The expo, run by Illawarra Parrot Club, was expected to attract bird enthusiasts from around the Illawarra, other parts of NSW, Queensland, Canberra and Victoria.
Club secretary Steven Gallo said the expo went "extremely well".
"This was our most successful bird sale," he said. "There were nearly 3,000 people who attended.
"The highest sale a $4,000 African grey parrot."
Mr Gallo said there were 76 bird exhibitors and seven trade stores on display.
As a special treat this year, members of the public brought in there own birds, especially macaws.
Owners let other people hold their bids and answered their questions.
Mr Gallo said the bird show would be back "bigger and better" next year.
