Something for Cait, which is on tap at His Boy Elroy and a few other venues around town, is also a fundraiser for Illawarra Cancer Carers.
Mr Stevenson said the group helped his mother Caitlin before she passed away from breast cancer last year.
He said the group's efforts were invaluable and addressed the human need for interaction while the doctors dealt with the medical side of her illness.
"The thing with being in hospital is most interactions, even if they're for your care, feel difficult," Mr Stevenson, a bartender at His Boy Elroy, said.
"Everything is treatment-related or related to your disease and making that better.
It's not just a beer, it's the right beer. It's the beer she would have enjoyed drinking.

"The influence that the cancer carers have is they come around and do things like give people foot massages.
"It's simple little things like that that which is an interaction for the day which isn't about your cancer, it isn't about your sickness or your disease."
After spending some time thinking about how to do something to honour his mother and help others, Mr Stevenson came up with the idea of the beer and the associated GoFundMe campaign.
"It came to the point where the cancer carers were the logical choice to go with that money," Mr Stevenson said.
Phil O'Shea from Five Barrel Brewing came on board to brew Something for Cait and Mr Stevenson said choosing a German pilsner as the beer was an easy decision.
"The reason we ended up with the German pilsner was because mum was a German teacher at Oak Flats Public and had a strong connection to Germany having travelled there a lot," he said.
"It seemed appropriate to do a beer that linked in that way, so it's not just a beer, it's the right beer. It's the beer she would have enjoyed drinking.
"I've drunk it, my dad's drunk it and people who knew mum have had it and they've said, 'that's the beer she would like'."
The venues will be donating $2 from every beer they pour and brewer Mr O'Shea is donating his profits on the 10 kegs brewed - which Mr Stevenson said worked out as an extra $1 donation for each beer.
Donations can also be made via the GoFundme page.
