Patrick's men have been among Illawarra Rugby's big improvers this year, with the side getting better with each week.

After narrowly falling to University a fortnight ago, Kiama produced an impressive performance last weekend to claim a comprehensive 34-0 victory over Camden.

Patrick, however, knows that this Saturday will present a fresh challenge.

"The last couple of weeks we've been building a bit of momentum, we'll see where we can take it," Patrick said.

"It's going to be a bit of a different game to last week and the week before. Bowral are obviously the defending premiers, we've just got to prepare well and work on a couple of little things we failed to do last weekend and the week before."

Despite Kiama's improvement throughout the year, they remain in seventh on the ladder with four wins from 10 matches.

Patrick entered the season knowing that the first round of competition would be a tough period for his team. The goal, however, was to ensure he had ironed out any kinks leading into the second round.

As last week's victory showed, a reversal of a 34-19 loss in round one, many of the team's weaknesses have been addressed and Patrick is confident Kiama is ready to cause some havoc among the competition's top teams.

"We used the first round as a building stage for us. Every week we have gotten better, we've got a couple of rep boys back this week which will boost the team.

"It was always going to be the second round that we were aiming for, to try get a couple of wins and cause a couple of upsets. Last week was the start of the second round and we started it with a win.

"As long as we keep building on what we've done the last few weeks, I'm quite confident we can give things a bit of a shake up."

Kiama's clash with Bowral is just one of a number of big matches to be played on Saturday.

Fresh off the bye, Shamrocks will look to bounce back from their last-start loss to Shoalhaven when they face competition leaders Avondale.

A win will ensure the side maintains contact with the competition's top two, while a loss will put Shamrocks in danger of dropping to fourth on the ladder.

A victory is also essential for University if they want to maintain contact with the top four, with the Bulls set to face Tech Tahs.

Vikings host Campbelltown and Shoalhaven will aim for three on the trot when they play Camden.
