These deer killed on Memorial Drive at Fairy Meadow - just 3km from the Wollongong CBD - show the problem is out of control, Keira MP Ryan Park said.

Mr Park said a suspension of culling programs from December 2017 to June 2018 allowed the population to boom, and "meagre" funding for the Illawarra Wild Deer Management Program is no longer sufficient.
"To see that these feral deer are on Memorial Drive is very concerning," he said.
"They are known to cause collisions on the road and on train lines. It is only a matter of time before there is a serious collision on our roads.
"The problem of wild deer is out of control and we need urgent bipartisan action to provide an immediate solution. People in the Illawarra are running out of patience."
Mr Park said the bipartisan approach was needed to fund more culling programs by Wollongong Council and Local Land Services. He said he would seek a meeting with new Agriculture Minister Adam Marshall to prioritise the issue.
"I am calling on the new minister to meet with me and listen to the experience we are having here in the Illawarra. We need a commitment from the government to increase funding for more deer culling programs in the Illawarra."
