The "new way of learning" is at the heart of TIGS' new building masterplan, TIGS21.
The first major step forward in the plan is the opening of a transformed learning environment.
This new space was created after a two-story block in the Senior School was completely reinvented into light-filled, modern and flexible spaces which facilitate collaboration and different types of learning.
TIGS principal Judi Nealy said the master plan was designed to renew the campus for the 21st century with a focus on enhancing the school's community, core values and academic outcomes while taking advantage of the site's natural assets.
Stephanie Hope, of architecture firm PMDL, said that the transformation was from structured and introspective learning spaces into an environment more akin to what students will experience at tertiary level and beyond in the workplace.
"It has provided the school with an appropriate setting for developing the necessary skills and awareness required for their students' future learning and careers," she said.
The excellent learning that is the norm at our school will be enhanced by these modern best practice spaces.

"By retaining the concept of classroom but replacing the solid walls with transparent partitions, as well as providing the ability to connect these spaces and offering other settings for learning, teachers are empowered to deliver future facing teaching in a supportive and responsive environment."
The response from students has been overwhelmingly positive, while teachers have seen increased collaboration between classes and high levels of engagement.
Ms Nealy said there had been a great deal of excitement as classes have commenced in the new learning facilities.
"Teachers and students are full of enthusiasm for the new spaces which feature beautiful natural light, plenty of glass and great flexibility for groups of different sizes and compositions," she said.
