He has written to NSW Treasurer Dominic Perrottet asking him to allocate funding for planning of major projects in the Illawarra.
The call comes after Mr Perrottet spoke with the media and urged the federal government to help fund the state's infrastructure projects following the slowing NSW economy.
"I have written to Mr Perrottet indicating Wollongong should not be left out of any infrastructure-based stimulus and suggested a projects the government should be able to work on now to make sure they are shovel-ready should an additional stimulus package be formulated," Mr Scully said.
"On the back of a cut in official interest rates, a 15th consecutive drop in monthly new car sales figures and the second fall in seasonally adjusted retail trade in NSW, there is likely to be some thought going into what projects might be ready to put into a stimulus package."
Media reports said a $230 billion national shortfall in critical infrastructure could be the starting point of a massive fiscal boost to the economy as pressure mounts on the Morrison government to ramp up spending to help drive down unemployment and boost wages.
NSW Treasurer Dominic Perrottet urge the federal government to support the state's growth with more equitable funding for NSW.
"The NSW budget showed our state is forecast to receive less than half of Queensland's average per-capita allocation of Commonwealth infrastructure funding over the four years from 2018-19," he said. "Given the influence our great state has on the national economy, that makes no sense."
Mr Scully does not want to see Wollongong left out of any potential new funding.
"There needs to be further upgrades of Picton Road to modernise the important link to south-west and western Sydney, especially as the second Sydney airport progresses," he said.
"The Unanderra Station upgrade and building the lifts needs to start immediately, as it was promised by the government during the March 2019 election.
"Refurbishing of the 'ghost wards' at Wollongong Hospital will create additional capacity, which would help alleviate the enormous pressure on Wollongong Emergency Department."
Mr Scully also wants to see the entertainment centre upgraded to stimulate construction activity and be a lasting contribution for the city's visitor economy. An accelerated or doubling of social housing maintenance activities to provide additional work for tradespeople is also on his wish list.
