It was the number one most-talked-about subject by Australian Twitter users for much of the night and by 8.30pm more than 18,200 people had used the hashtag.

The call out was to describe your age in just five words.

For many that was easy, with some reminiscing about pre-internet days, VHS tapes and MTV showing music.

"VHS was still a thing," Brisa Tweeted.

A Girl Has No Name posted: "Street lights meant go home".

While someone posting under the name ReetikaxShrestha reminisced about round, metal tins full of Danish biscuits that were then used as a sewing kit.

While Megan McDevitt remembered her days of borrowing videos.

"I had a Blockbuster membership," she Tweeted.

Another person remembered the days before televisions came with a remote control.

"I was my father's remote," Bob Marsdale Tweeted.

And while trolls is an often-used word these days when describing a person who starts a fight or posts inflammatory comments on the internet, Lindsey McNeely remembers something a little more innocent.

"Trolls meant something totally different," she posted using the #MyAgeIn5Words hashtag and also included a GIF of the plastic doll with furry up-combed colourful hair.
