Singer-actor Natalie Bassingthwaighte, who announced her pregnancy yesterday, may have a few challenges ahead when it comes to naming the new arrival.Bassingthwaighte, the former frontwoman for Rogue Traders, is expecting a baby in August with long-term partner and drummer Cameron McGlinchey (pictured inset)."Bassingthwaighte is a mouthful for any child so hyphenation is definitely out unless he or she could cope with a 26-letter name," joked grandad-to-be Michael Bassingthwaighte.A former Wollongong High School student from Mt Warrigal, Bassingthwaighte has enjoyed a whirlwind career ranging from singing and acting to presenting the popular television show So You Think You Can Dance.A magazine exclusive on the pregnancy prevented her and McGlinchey from saying more than "we are thrilled and cannot wait to become parents".Mr Bassingthwaighte, who still lives in the Illawarra, said it was no secret that his daughter was ready for motherhood."She has been talking about it for some time and wanted it to happen this year," he said. "We were told about six weeks ago which was great news for her mother Betty and her three sisters Melinda, Lisa and Nicole."Natalie will make a terrific mother. She is never happier than when she is mucking around with her nieces and nephews - she loves playing games."The other girls all have children so this will complete the set." The timing couldn't be better for Bassingthwaighte, who turns 35 this year. She has just completed her stint on the latest series of Underbelly playing a policeman's wife. Meantime, a Network Ten spokeswoman said Bassingthwaighte would continue to host So you Think You Can Dance, but she could not say for how long.
