After suffering a shock defeat to Tech earlier this season, Vikings were determined to ensure there would be no repeat performance, with the home side totally outplaying their opponents on Saturday.

Doubles to Dane Nethery and Daniel Bunten, in his 100^th first grade game for the club, helped the side to a commanding 57-14 victory in windy conditions at Vikings Rugby Ground.

The win was Vikings fourth on the trot and Roodenrys said the side is building nicely.

"We're getting there," Roodenrys said. "We're hitting our straps at the moment. It's good to see us put three wins together where we've scored more than 50. We just have to keep moving forward now, we've got work to do for sure.

"We still need to be mentally stronger. We have a tendency to relax at times and we're more than talented enough to take this. We just need to be the best that we can coming into the finals."

The visitors opened the scoring on Saturday, however it was all one way traffic from that point, with Vikings quickly taking control.

Six tries in the space of 30 minutes handed Vikings a 38-7 halftime lead and ensured the result was well beyond doubt at the break.

It's a ruthlessness the side has lacked at times this season and Roodenrys was pleased to see it on display.

"It's good to see us actually taking the initiative away from the other team, we've been guilty of letting teams back in recently.

"It's nice to see us go on with it. We've got some really good depth coming through, to put eight subs on and we can still continue to heap pressure on teams and score points is a really good sign."

With Vikings locked in a tight tussle for a finals spot, Roodenrys knows his team must keep building week to week. The key to that, he feels, is ensuring the best 15 players are on the field each week.

That will be a challenge in the coming weeks, with Nethery and halfback Tommy Sawden both leaving the field with injuries on Saturday and a NSW Country camp scheduled for next weekend. That camp will force Vikings to face Shoalhaven without Jack Hobbs, Cody Roman and Nethery.

"At this time of year, the big part is staying healthy, we're starting to get banged up a little bit, as most clubs would be.

"For us, I'm really happy with the way we're going, we just need to keep playing the style of footy we've been playing, which is quick, direct football and opening up the space on the edge."

While the victory reinforced Vikings spot inside the top four, the same cannot be said for Shamrocks who slipped to fifth on the ladder with a 29-5 loss to Bowral. Moving into fourth is University who claimed a 31-0 win over Shoalhaven.

Also on Saturday, Avondale defeated Camden 48-12 and Kiama claimed a 36-27 victory over Campbelltown.
