State Emergency Service workers were kept busy by removing fallen trees, branches and broken fences. They also helped secure roofs.
On Sunday afternoon, SES volunteers had attended 36 jobs for assistance as a result of damaging winds caused by a series of cold fronts.
Woolworths Shell Cove closed its doors on Sunday after the roof was partially blown off.
SES were working to fix it. The shop is expected to be open at 7am on Monday.
NSW Fire and Rescue crews were called to two major jobs on Sunday afternoon.
Firefighters extinguished a grass fire along the railway line at Corrimal, near the cokeworks site after a blaze spread about 100 metres.
The wind caused a smoky haze and dramatic scenes.
Crews also attended and extinguished a fire at a Robertson Street reserve in Port Kembla.
A SES spokeswoman said the Illawarra and Blue Mountains had the most calls outs of the 519 jobs across the state.
Nowra units had 34 and Moss Vale had 20.
The Bureau of Meteorology predicted 60 to 70 km/h winds in the Illawarra with gusts in excess of 90 km/h.
On Saturday, emergency services fixed fallen power lines at Woonona, Thirroul and Figtree.
The roof at Bunnings, Albion Park was also damaged in the wind.
Winds are forecast to ease by late Monday morning.
Another front will move through the southeast on Wednesday, but is unlikely to be as strong as the weekend.
