The moon, earth and sun are lining up for a partial lunar eclipse, visible if you have a good view of the horizon and if Mother Nature plays nicely.
It's expected the moon will also give off a slight red tinge during the event.
The next total lunar eclipse visible from Australia will occur in the evening of 26 May 2021, according to the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences. The whole of which will be visible from all of New Zealand and most of Australia.
The next total solar eclipse (where the moon totally covers the sun) will be viewable from Sydney and the Illawarra at 2pm on 22 July 2028.
