Vice president Robyn Hampton described it as a happy club that has continued to grow and strengthen its support for The Smith Family.
VIEW Clubs were started by The Smith Family in 1960. Figtree club's formation meeting was held at the Coniston Hotel in 1969. There were 17 ladies present at the meeting that led to a charter dinner at Renown Court on July 23 with 55 members and 70 guests. The inaugural president was Sheila Carrick, secretary Elizabeth Buckland and treasurer Sandria Lewton. Mrs Hampton said the club remains strong with 110 members.
"We meet at The Wollongong Golf Club for dinner on the third Wednesday of each month. Figtree VIEW Club`s strong focus is in support of The Smith Family program Learning for Life. Presently we have 11 students.
"We only know these students first name and we receive a letter from them regarding their progress, it is so satisfying to know we are helping these students and the wider community".
The present board is made up of Club president is Valerie Leiner vice president Robyn Hampton, secretary Marion Millar, assistant secretary Fay Ryan, treasurer Margaret Rowan, assistant treasurer, Annette Bouck, delegate Helen Jennett, program officers Carol Logue and Alma Wrigley and publicity officer Lyn Waldock.
