Keira MP Ryan Park lodged questions with Environment Minister Matt Kean about extending the track to the Southern Gateway Centre at Bulli Tops.
Mr Park suggested the work could provide an alternate entry point to the track, reducing the parking pressure at the base of the escarpment walk.
"I am keen to look at ways we can enhance the track and find a solution to ease the parking issues faced in Austinmer," he said.

At present walkers park in Foothills Road and Buttenshaw Drive, causing problems for local residents.
Mr Kean said he was aware of walkers parking in these streets and that an extension at the northern end had previously been noted as an option.
"A walking track linking the Southern Gateway and Sublime Point was identified in the 2006 Illawarra Escarpment Walking Tracks Master Plan," Mr Kean said.
"The track is also proposed as part of the Illawarra Escarpment walking track from Stanwell Park to Mt Kembla."
Mr Kean said any such extension was estimated to cost $350,000.
"The extension of track from Sublime Point to the Southern Gateway would require two kilometres of existing track to be upgraded and 800 metres of new track," he said.
The Environment Minister added that Wollongong City Council would need to approve the track as a section of the proposed route is on council land.
