She's the only female DJ in Australia signed to a major record label and she's playing in Wollongong tonight.Internationally renowned female DJ Havana Brown will bring her R&B and dance mixes to the city in what is being heralded as the best club act to hit the Illawarra.Brown has spun discs alongside the likes of The Pussy Cat Dolls, Beyonce and Britney Spears, but this will the Melburnian's first performance in Wollongong."I've heard about the Illawarra Fly Treetop Walk and that the shopping is pretty good, so hopefully I get time to experience those as well as playing and partying with the locals," Brown said.The 24-year-old is signed to Universal Records and her success is slowly broadening in the male-dominated industry."The number of successful female DJs has increased substantially in the past few years - I'm really proud to be a part of that. I've worked hard to gain respect," she said.Brown will play at the Hostage X Nightclub in Wollongong tonight alongside one of the club's resident female DJs.The unofficial Australian tour follows her recent success in the United States, where production of her first vocal project is underway.Brown is among a host of international DJs who have gained celebrity status from recreating modern music.Last year, she performed alongside the Black Eyed Peas, Beyonce and NERD in a three-day spectacular at the Singapore Formula One Grand Prix. Brown's fourth mix tape album will be released on June 4.
