Sean Broaders, who has a history involving unwanted sexual acts towards women and children, freely admitted his actions during a police interview, saying he thought it was okay as she'd said hello to him prior to the incident.

"I did it just for fun, I didn't get horny about it," Broaders said.

Court documents said Broaders was staying at the Sage Hotel on the evening of January 19 when he approached the woman as she got out of her vehicle at the entrance to the hotel.

They had a brief conversation, the contents of which was not revealed in the court documents but which the victim said left her feeling "somewhat uncomfortable".

She then headed to the reception desk to check-in. While filling out paper work, the woman said she felt the back of a man's hand push "firmly and deliberately" against her buttock.

She turned around to see Broaders standing behind her. She said she felt "extremely uncomfortable and intimidated" by the 55-year-old, but finished the checking-in process.

Broaders walked to the lift ahead of her and gestured for her to enter with him. The woman retreated to the reception desk for help.

Police arrived a short time later and arrested Broaders. He was charged with sexual touching, to which he pleaded guilty in court, withdrawing an application to have the case dealt with under mental health legislation.

Magistrate Roger Clisdell sentenced Broaders to a six-month community corrections order, noting he'd already spent the past six months behind bars on remand.
