That's a pretty amazing set of words when you read them.
Wouldn't it be amazing to be able to give the gift of life?
Well, the reality is you can and people like Caitlin McKay are living proof.
Caitlin has been a recipient of that gift twice in the form of new kidneys from donours.
Speaking to the Illawarra Mercury ahead of DonateLife week, the Albion Park woman said: "For those on the list, I'd say 'never give up hope'. There's days when you think your turn is never going to come, but it can and it will.
"To the family members of donors, I can't thank you enough for giving people like me my life back.
"It's such a selfless thing to donate in the face of heartache."
DonateLife Week is about encouraging families to have the vital conversation needed about organ donation and then asking people to take direct action, registering as a donour.
So many people who might actually wish to "donate life" to others don't actually take those vital steps that are needed to communicate their wishes effectively.
To properly have your wish to donate they are the two things you must do.
Have a conversation with those closest to you and register online.
They are simple actions, but if you follow them through it might just be you who is giving the gift of life.
The most powerful gift of all.
There is a great quote about organ donation which is often shared on social media.
It is from an unknown author, but reads as such:
Don't think of organ donations as giving up part of yourself to keep a total stranger alive.
It's really a total stranger giving up almost all of themselves to keep part of you alive.
DonateLife Week 2019 is Sunday July 28 to Sunday August 4.
