A 19-year-old man sustained broken teeth and facial injuries after a beer glass was allegedly thrown in his face at the Palm Court Hotel, Corrimal, on the weekend.The man was struck during an altercation with a 19-year-old woman about 1am on Saturday.The venue's manager, who did not want to be named, said the patrons were both weekend regulars but had no other connection.

  • EDITORIAL: Ugly crime committed by cowards Police attending a separate incident close to the hotel arrived on the scene shortly after the attack and spoke to both teenagers.The victim was taken to Wollongong Hospital for treatment to facial lacerations and two broken teeth.The woman was taken to Wollongong Police Station where she was charged with recklessly causing grievous bodily harm, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and two counts of resisting police.She was granted conditional bail to appear at Wollongong Local Court on July 27.The hotel's manager said the event had been an isolated incident and introducing plastic cups after midnight had never been thought necessary."We have spoken to licensing about it but we've never had any trouble, we've never had anything like this happen before," he said.A spate of glassings across the state kept NSW Police busy on the weekend with five separate attacks occurring in just two days.A 27-year-old man needed 12 stitches to his face after a 24-year-old woman allegedly threw a beer glass in his face while the pair were drinking at a Batemans Bay hotel on Saturday.About 11.30pm that night, police in Sydney say a 21-year-old man suffered a fractured skull during an attack in Kent St.A group of three to four males allegedly set upon a group of five males, kicking and punching them. Police allege the 21-year-old was hit on the head with a glass bottle, causing the fracture and a serious laceration.At The Rocks just an hour later, a 20-year-old man received facial wounds when a 36-year-old man allegedly struck him in the face with a glass. At 2.30am on Sunday, a 28-year-old man was hit on the back of the head with a bottle during an altercation at a nightclub in Kings Cross.
