They included Bohmer the Tree Whisperer (alias Clive Woodnutt) taking centre stage at Woonona Public School on Friday and the Coledale Markets on Sunday. His mission was to provide some educational family fun and art activities.
Mr Woodnutt is head arborist at Bohmer's Tree Care and loves sharing the magic of trees.
"I have done it for five years now dressed as a tree to talk to young people about how important trees are and sustainability. I love doing it. I give the children seeds so they can go home and plant a tree in the backyard or at a local park. Many of them tell to their parents they want to ride their bike to school the next day because it will be better for the environment".
Mr Woodnutt has been in the industry for 40 years and said it was great to find a way to get through to children about how important trees are. He talks to them about sustainability and educates parents at the same time. "I get a fantastic response from the children and parents are often quite surprised about what they didn't know. A lot of kids now know about how photosynthesis occurs".
Bohmer the Tree Whisperer has been visiting schools for many years and loves taking students into the outdoor classroom.
"We do a lot for schools, organisations and businesses in the local community. But my main mission is to educate young people".
