The school has implemented an innovative and inspiring approach to welfare, wellbeing and, most importantly, learning. A fair, consistent, predictable approach was instilled and is reflected in the improvement in social, emotional and learning outcomes across the school.
Dedicated staff work to ensure all students needs are met within the school. The canteen provides a free breakfast club every morning with the support of the Denny foundation and every class is provided with a bowl full of fruit every morning.

As the famous psychologist and child-development expert, Jean Piaget, said "play is the work of childhood" and at Warilla North Public School they play seriously.
It might look like students are just having fun, but through play-based learning, students are learning and practising invaluable skills.
Through carefully planned play-based activities, students develop their social skills, problem-solving skills, fine-motor skills, imagination, independence and the ability to self-regulate.
While all of this important self-directed learning is happening, classroom teachers have time to work one-on-one and with small groups of students, targeting instruction to exactly what each student needs and helping students to come up with their own personal learning goals. This means happy and productive kids who love learning. There is a strong emphasis on individualised learning through conferencing and setting goals targeted for individual students.
Staff examined Finland's education system and implemented that country's beliefs into Warilla North.
Teachers who were already implementing brain breaks have a strong understanding of optimal attention span and incorporate this into all lessons, with explicit instructions being limited to 10 minutes and play- based activities.
They plan project-based learning across the school. Stage 3's first experience with Project Based Learning was very successful. The students decided to hold a Healthy and Happy Expo.
Each group had a stand and they conducted research, created hands-on activities, made slideshows, produced recipes and made posters with procedures and facts.
The Engagement Classroom helps students achieve a high level of academic success, attend class regularly and stay in school.
