Trainer Mark Newnham is optimistic he has a future Group runner on his hands, after Super Oasis defied a market drift and being badly held up in the straight, to break through at Kembla Grange on Thursday.

In high winds, Nash Rawiller took a sit on the three-year-old Exceed and Excel filly who shares a bloodline with Group 1 winner English.
But Rawiller found himself boxed away until finding a run to edge past runner-up Maisaa, trained by Peter and Paul Snowden, in a 1000m fillies and mares maiden.
"I don't know whether I wanted her covered up for that long," a relieved Newnham told Sky Racing.
"She's shown quality there with a really good turn of foot, it's not often they come out sideways and get balanced and finished off like that.
"She's got the quality to (be a black-type runner), it will be a matter of taking her along quietly, she's a got a bit of a hot temperament, so we've got to manage that."
At her third start and after a 22-week break, Super Oasis had started the day hovering close to even money odds, but drifted to $2.70 and Rawiller was pleased to avoid the blushes of being a good thing beaten.
"Whatever you were feeling, it felt it by 10 times," he said. "I knew she was going to get herself out of trouble when we got that gap, she's a pretty good filly and it will give her a bit of confidence.
"Thank God we did work it out in the end."
Earlier, raging favourite Mo's Crown ($1.70) went down, as the Bjorn Baker-trained Courageous held off Snowden duo Leo and Ranges in a head-bobbing finish.
The final two races of Thursday's Kembla Grange meeting were called off as a result of the increasing winds. As the change hit, an inspection of the conditions was conducted for the last two races on the seven-event card, after jockeys generally looked to find some cover in running.
It denied the Michelle Ritchie-trained Dolly's Due a chance to press The Kosciuszko claims in the final race of the day.
And it came after the Greg Hickman-trained Eleven Eleven continued along the path towards emulating Pierata's feats at the Magic Millions in January.
Pierata won the three-year-old Guineas at the Gold Coast in January last year, claiming the Group 2 Missile Stakes and more recently the Group 1 All Aged Stakes at Randwick in April.
Eleven Eleven defied the windy conditions to salute by more than two lengths in Benchmark 64 over 1000m on Thursday, as Hickman has already signalled the intentions to take the three-year-old gelding to the Gold Coast next year.
