Stuart Dohrn was 43-years-old when he was last seen at his Woronora home on December 14, 2015.
Family members reported Stuart missing to police that evening; however, while extensive inquiries were made Mr Dohrn was never seen alive again.
On June 2, two bushwalkers made the grim discovery of bones within the Royal National Park, south of Audley Weir, and alerted to police of their find.
Forensic examiners have now determined the bones are human, and have informed investigators they are those of the missing Mr Dohrn.
Police have kept Mr Dohrn's family apprised of the developments.
Inquiries continue into the cause of death.
