Yes that's correct, NSW senator Andrew Bragg made the suggestion in his first speech to parliament, traditionally an occasion where rookie incoming parliamentarians out line their issues that are most important to them.

Senator Bragg said that superannuation should be voluntary for people earning under $50,000.

That would see hundreds of thousands of working Australians retire in poverty.

Then this rookie also suggested that the government would benefit from higher taxation revenues as they would be able to tax the increased wage at a higher percentage than the concessional taxation rates applied to superannuation contributions.

Andrew Bragg, who mind you is paid $25,000 a year in super on his vast parliamentary salary, wants to exclude all Australians earning $50,000 or less.

These comments are cruel, hypocritical, regressive , cold and unfair.

His views have no place in this country and the prime minister should condemn them.

I can't see a reason to look for some fancy bridge name.

Just call it Fowler's Rd Bridge instead of some obscure Aboriginal or other person's name which won't be remembered.

In almost 80 years I have seen many changes in our society, most of them for the better.

However, I cannot say the same for our changing attitudes towards morality and ethics, our increasing tolerance to criminality, and to the increasing selfishness.

Despite living though changes that have gone from one side of the pendulum to the other I still can't believe our politicians would pass laws that enable the slaughter of a fetus which has reached 22 weeks in its development - unless there is a likely serious health outcome for the mother or the baby.

But this new law will allow a mother to abort her baby simply because it's not the right gender.

I have never objected to abortion if it occurs early in a pregnancy.

However, this decision changes everything. It's gone past the stage where it's about a woman and her body.

It's reached a stage where the fetus has surely developed sufficiently to have a right.

At this rate society is on a very fast track to an unimaginable, hell hole.

And I'm glad I won't be around to see it. I just hope I go before politicians enact a law to rid our society of the aged and infirmed.

Wollongong City Council should focus on the three Rs: Roads, Rates and Rubbish. According to a recent NRMA report our Council have one of worst backlogs of roads needing repairing yet council spend their time on a "climate emergency".

Does not pass the pub test.
