Enrico was killed around 8.45pm on Tuesday, after his car left the road and slammed into a tree on Lakeside Drive, Kanahooka.
His grandfather Gani Sali said his grandson was a "good boy" who loved cars.
He said the former Dapto High School student worked as a mechanic apprentice at Harrigan dealership in Albion Park.
"All the family are crying," Mr Sali said. "I am sorry for Enrico. We are a close family."
Enrico's friend Justin Mehmedovic hugged and shared memories of Enrico with Mr Sali. Both were visibly upset as they looked at flowers that had been laid to remember the teen.
"I still can't believe it," Mr Mehmedovic said. "He was one of my good mates and we grew up together.
"Enrico would always look out for you and he would do anything for you. I have good memories of our friendship that I will cherish."
Police believe the provisional driver was speeding at the time. Two passengers were also in the car.
An 18-year-old woman sitting in the back seat suffered serious internal and leg injuries. She was freed from the car before being airlifted to St George Hospital. The woman remains in a stable condition.
A 17-year-old man in the front passenger seat suffered a broken arm and multiple abrasions. He was taken to Wollongong Hospital in a serious but stable condition and has since been discharged.
Mr Mehmedovic said he had previously told Enrico to be careful and not speed while driving.
