But Sepoy gelding Landstrasse also showed off his immense potential with a two-length win in Saturday's 1600m Maiden at Kembla Grange.

It's was a red-letter day for Godolphin, even at the dawn of spring, and Landstrasse delivered in style, botting clear in the straight to fend off the challenges of Gwenda Markwell's four-year-old Design Ahead, with the Jason Coyle-trained Sirmaze third.

"His work at home's been really good," Godolphin stable representative Steve Thompson said.

"The boys have come in very position today and a 10 out of 10 ride. The switch has done him the world of good and he's really turned the corner."

Pandemic came to Saturday's benchmark 70-race over 1100m off a debut win at Wyong over 1000m on July 23.

On that occasion he beat the Gerald Ryan-trained Heart Of The Oak with the filly a decisive winner at Newcastle a week ago.

Darren Beadman was at Randwick representing trainer James Cummings with Pandemic winning on the same afternoon Bivouac built on his two-year-old success with victory in the Vain Stakes at Caulfield.

"He's been a late-maturing type being by Sepoy and is stoutly bred on his dam's side as a half-brother to Earthquake," Beadman said.

"He couldn't have been more impressive on debut.

"He's a proper racehorse and a very exciting horse going forward."

Bivouac has made an early-season statement with a dominant win in the Group Three Vain Stakes at Caulfield.

The James Cummings-trained Bivouac only had five rivals in his season return in Saturday's 1100m sprint for three-year-old colts and geldings but left them in his wake in the final 200m to win by 4-1/4-lengths.

"He's a good horse," jockey Hugh Bowman said.

"He's got a good record. I know the stable feels that he has progressed since his two-year-old season and that was shown today." with AAP
