Mariah Shea Powell fronted Wollongong Local Court on Thursday accused of being an accessory after the fact to murder.
Lake Illawarra detectives arrested the 26-year-old woman at her home about 7.30pm on Wednesday.
She's got a heart of gold. She's got an autistic little boy who she is amazing with, who is going to suffer now too.
Police will allege Powell "harboured and assisted" Darren Butler for almost two weeks while he was wanted by police investigating the death of Daniel Merrett in the early hours of May 18.
Police are yet to publicly reveal what assistance Powell allegedly gave Butler.
Through her private lawyer Carla Velasquez, Powell did not apply for bail on Thursday and it was formally refused. She smiled, waved and blew kisses via video link to her family who were there to support her in court.
Powell is the seventh person to be charged over Mr Merrett's death, which occurred when the Ford Territory he was a passenger in slammed into the back of a fuel tanker at an estimated speed of about 160km/h.
The Territory's driver Kayleen Merrett, and fellow passengers Jakaya Clulow and Thomas Johnson were seriously injured in the crash.
Police will allege the Territory was being pursued by a Toyota Corolla containing Darren Butler, Andrew Russell and Holly Green following an earlier confrontation between the two groups at a Cringila service station over Mr Johnson's unpaid debt to Green's brother.
It is alleged Butler and Russell fired a number of shots at the Territory as it fled. Butler and Russell have been charged with murder, while Green is facing a charge of attempted aggravated armed robbery.
The other three people accused of helping Butler avoid police during his time on the run are his current girlfriend, Holy Powers, ex-girlfriend Maddison Day and a friend, Matthew Ryan. All three are facing an accessory after the fact to murder charge.
Meanwhile, Butler was arrested after a dramatic police chase through the streets of Figtree on May 30. Powers and Ryan were in the car at the time and were also arrested.
Outside court, Powell's mother Erica spoke with the media. She said her daughter had "a good heart" and was a "beautiful person". Ms Powell said Mariah knew Butler "through friends".
"It is taking a heavy toll," she said. "I am beside myself.
"Mariah would never hurt anyone. "She's got a heart of gold. She's got an autistic little boy who she is amazing with, who is going to suffer now too."
Powell will reappear in Wollongong Local Court on October 10.
