The former frontman of Oasis, Liam Gallagher, will lead the charge with Kasey Chambers, DMAs, Meg Mac and The Lemonheads closely in tow.
Chambers will be performing her groundbreaking record The Captain in full, as part of a 20th anniversary tour.
Wollongong emerging artist Stevan will also be amongst the musical offering which will run across Friday December 6 and Saturday December 7.
Now in its fifth year, the event is aimed to suit mums, dads and kids and will incorporate a "youth ticket" for the first time - reducing prices for 13 to 17-year-olds.
Camping will again be available for the two-day event - dubbed a "carnival of music" by organisers - as well as an array of activities aimed at all ages.
Fresh oysters and champagne will be on offer at wine bars, patrons can discover rare and cult vinyl at the record fare, take a dip in the festival swimming pool or rummage through the artisan market stalls.
The Little Fairgrounds area returns - a space where parents can safely let their child also be entertained in case they're too young to enjoy Gallagher's hits like When I'm In Need or Wonderwall.
Expect kiddie workshops, activities and sack races and tug-of-war at Games On The Green.
Children's musical entertainment will be provided by fluffy punk rock friends Bunny Racket as well as the retro cartoon pop stylings of ABC Kids' newest superstars The Sticker Club.
The first lineup announcement of musicians precedes a new documentary about the outspoken rocker, Liam Gallagher: As It Was. The film captures Oasis' rowdy glory days, their bitter split and the dramatic fall of their singer afterwards.
It will be released in the UK in September before heading to video-on-demand platforms.
Pre-sale tickets for the Fairgrounds Festival will be available from Tuesday August 27, 9am. General tickets are on sale Wednesday August 28 from 9am, via Moshtix.
