A 36-year-old man has been charged after he allegedly attempted to rob a Wollongong real estate agent on Friday afternoon.

Police said the man entered the Crown Street office around 4pm and demanded cash from a female employee, before threatening her with what she believed to be a home-made firearm.
She was joined by a female colleague, who told the man no cash was ever kept on the premises.
After continuing to threaten the women, the man left without any money and they were able to call police.
Officers from Wollongong Police District began investigations and shortly after arrested the accused at Wollongong Train Station.
Following a search of the man, a number of items were seized including a metal object, similar to the one described by the employee.
The man was then transported to Wollongong Police Station and charged with Robbery Armed With An Offensive Implement.
He was refused bail and appeared in Wollongong Local Court on Saturday.
On Saturday, he was bail refused to appear in court again on Wednesday.
