The one-day free family festival will again take place on Sunday throughout the township of Corrimal.
The festival, now in its 38th year and presented by the Corrimal Chamber of Commerce, runs from 9am to 4pm.
Last year, festival organisers expressed concerns that community festivals could become a thing of the past due to the rising costs of security and insurance.
The 2018 festival ultimately went ahead after Wollongong police helped address security concerns, while this year's event was under threat due to insurance costs.
Chamber of Commerce chairperson Paul Boultwood said it was only confirmed in June that this year's event would go ahead.
He said due the generosity of the sponsors and supporters, Spring into Corrimal is back for 2019.
"After last year and the problems faced, many members of the community contacted the media and local politicians to express their concerns that community events like Spring into Corrimal would become a thing of the past," he said.
"We were humbled with the support and responses that came forth.
"It is the community of the Illawarra that supported us and wanted this event back, and we do it for them."
This year, activities include the Ability Artists Art Exhibition and Competition, outdoor food and beverage precinct, family fun zone, Corrimal Citizen of the Year Award, more than 270 market stalls, car boot sale, international food arena, three entertainment stages and the Grand Street Parade.
"On this day we are the gateway to Wollongong and the Illawarra and we want to showcase our region to the expected 60,000-plus people that attend," Mr Boultwood said.
