The 26-year-old is one of four potential debutants in the Blues 14-man squad, with Nick Bertus, Liam Hatcher and Ulladulla's Matt Gilkes also named for the team's first two matches of the national competition.
A member of the Sydney Thunder, McAndrew was selected from outside the Blues contracted squad and NSW Coach Phil Jaques said all four players have earned the opportunity to represent their state.
"All of those players have been performers for a long time," Jaques said.
"Nathan McAndrew, obviously with the Thunder ... he's a great all-round package, fantastic fielder, very good bowler and also provides us with some good power with his batting."
The NSW domestic one-day campaign will kick off in Queensland as part of a revamped competition structure.

Rather than the condensed format played in recent years, the tournament will be spread throughout the coming months.
The Blues will take on Queensland on Sunday before they play the Southern Redbacks next Thursday, with both matches to be played at Allan Border Field in Brisbane.
The NSW campaign will continue the following week, before the remaining fixtures are played around the Sheffield Shield's early rounds.
With a 50-over debut looming, McAndrew has declared he has his eyes firmly focused on featuring in the Sheffield Shield this summer.
