It is incredible to see the momentum kids have created around this Friday's student climate strike.

I am a local mum, and although my two kids are still too young to understand the climate crisis I am just so proud of the students of the Illawarra and their efforts to organise the strike action locally.
Our kids are looking at the evidence and making their own minds up on climate change.
They have shown tremendous courage to peacefully stand up and make their voices heard on an issue that has been toxic to Australian politics for decades.
I hope their leadership becomes a trigger for Australia to finally make the economic transformation we are well overdue for.I'll be there on Friday to support our students knowing that my kids future can only be brighter when we have such incredible young people leading the way.

TINKERING AROUND EDGES
I refer to Father Brendan Lee's argument, (Mid-Week Musings September 18),in which he argues for retaining the "seal of confession," for paedophiles.
In the final analysis his argument makes less sense than his analogy, wherein he questions the burning down of the Amazon Rainforest to catch a paedophile hiker.
At least we know the Amazon Rainforest exists.
Father Brendan's argument makes some heroic assumptions.
Firstly it assumes that some omniscient, supernatural deity has delegated to him the power to absolve sinners or not to as the good Father sees fit.
It also assumes that the options of heavenly bliss and eternal life or eternal damnation in Hell are dependent on his decisions.
Arguing about the details surrounding the "seal of confession", to my mind is surely just tinkering around the edges of this interesting topic.

A FRESH APPROACH
'Meet Mt Keira's Camp Warden (Illawarra Mercury, September 14).many of us would have read this and wondered how we could get a job like Leanne's.
In many instances you can.
Doing something as a hobby or activity that we are enthusiastic about can lead to opportunities like these.
She has a large support group who help her out with many of the day to day surprises.
And there is the ability for Leanne to contribute to the Scout Camp with fund raising.
But there's more, the songs of the Lyrebirds.
Each of us has an ability to shape our jobs and make them very much something we enjoy.
Many of us train in an occupation we enjoy.
We need to treat our work colleagues with respect, no bullying and harassment, create a karma.
Become fully engaged in our work.
Put much of the HR function out of work.
And then apply this approach to your community
