NBN users in Kiama now have access to new Telstra plans offering bigger data allowances for internet bundles.Telstra area general manager Michael Marom said the bundles, specifically for NBN users, were in line with those available for ADSL users. But Mr Marom said they were generally about twice as fast for those paying $80 or $90 a month with a 5GB or 200GB data allowance. He said NBN speeds on those new bundles on a single bill including home phone and broadband access with a Wi-Fi modem would be around 25 megabytes per second compared to around 12Mbps on ADSL.But customers paying $100 or more a month for a 200GB or 500GB data allowance would be able to access speeds of up to 100Mbps.ADSL users on similar bundle plans could generally access a maximum of about 12Mbps, Mr Marom said. The new bundle plans are for all consumers in NBN enabled areas.Mr Marom said that would include Wollongong and Corrimal when they came on line.He said Telstra recognised many homes now had a range of new internet-enabled devices such as the T-Box, T-Hub, smartphones and tablets which provided access to movie downloads, on-demand content and sophisticated websites that performed best with greater speed and data allowances. The bundles also include unlimited national voice calls between the home phone and up to four mobile services on the single bill, as well as unlimited local calls in most bundles.Mr Marom said more than 180 people in Kiama helped Telstra trial NBN services in the past six months and provided valuable feedback.Fixed broadband plans are also available on the NBN for customers who have a full service Telstra home phone plan.
