Alcott will not only address 200 delegates at the Novotel his visit has been made possible with the help of The Illawarra Connection and he will deliver a keynote address at its networking dinner. He will also speak at Wollongong City Council.
After recently winning the French Open and a Logie he is expected to have many inspirational messages. Disability Trust executive manager Matthew Martin thanked TIC and president Graham Lancaster for support in helping get Alcott up for the October 14 & 15 conference.
"It is a great initiative by TIC and The Disability Trust to get someone of such international standing," Mr Martin said.
"He is one of Australia's leading sportspeople and a disability advocate. He is perfect for the conference where we want people to have fun, learn and feel empowered. The "Your Voice Your Choice" conference is really focusing on empowering people with disabilities as well as their parents and carers.
"We also want service providers to attend and bring participants. There will be presentations from people with disabilities, National Disability Insurance Agency, Council for Intellectual Disability and parent/carer stories.
"We have two days of really fantastic presenters and we are fortunate to have great support from the Illawarra Disability Alliance and Illawarra Interchange. And we have presentations from a number of local providers".
