They are also brought on by premature fatigue.
There are a number of ways we can avoid muscular cramping:
Train specifically for your race. Cramps will happen when you push yourself harder than your body is used to.
Rest. If you get a cramp rest and try to stop any movement on that specific group of muscle fibres, most cramps won't last any longer than 3-5 minutes.
Stretch lightly. Aim to stretch the muscle lightly to trigger the brain to get the muscle to relax.
Keep hydrated. This includes water before, during and after the event, as well as electrolytes during and after the event.
Adhering to these routines will allow you to continue the sports and exercises you love to do.
