In the early years this small not-for-profit consisted of a four person team; three decades later it has grown its workforce to 52 and includes occupational therapists, builders, carpenters, handymen, administration and client services personnel.
CEO, Anne Reeve, has been at the helm for over 20 years and has navigated the many changes and challenges faced by the aged care and disability sector during this time.
While head office and their display centre is located in Dapto, servicing the Illawarra and Shoalhaven region, they now have offices and workshops across the South Coast, Eurobodalla, Hunter, Southern Highlands and Queanbeyan regions.
The organisation provides home modification and maintenance services to people over the age of 65 (or over 50 for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people) and to people with a disability, as an approved My Aged Care provider and registered provider to the National Disability Insurance Scheme.

These modifications are based on the individual needs of the client and range from simple grab rails or hand held showers, to large scale bathroom and access modifications.
Ultimately the aim is the same: to maximise clients' safety and independence around the home.
Scope Home Access is constantly reviewing ways to meet these needs and have recently extended services to include security solutions for the home including security screens, door/window locks, security lights and cameras, video doorbells and key lock boxes.
"Most people agree they would prefer to stay among the comfort and memories of their family home as they grow older," Anne said.
"We're therefore seeing a growing number of clients who are taking proactive steps to 'future-proof' their home and ensure it will meet their safety and security needs for years to come.
"Like us, they believe that family, friends and remaining active in their local communities are as much a part of their wellbeing as medication and therapy."
Nonetheless, Anne said it could be hard to know where your money would be best spent to ensure you can remain independent in your own home long-term.
"Our specialist occupational therapists can remove all that guesswork by assessing both you and your home to determine which modifications would benefit you the most now and into the future.
"Having experienced in-house builders helps make the whole process more seamless," she said. "The nature of our work means we collaborate directly with members of the local community every day to deliver the best possible service.
"Knowing that we can make a positive difference in someone's life and help them find a way to stay in the home and community they choose is what really keeps us going."
