The origin of the name Abico Insurance Brokers Pty Ltd is interesting.
The name Abico originated from the first initials of Allan and Bob plus the abbreviation of 'insurance company'.
In the days of the Yellow Pages they wanted something that would see their ad at the top of the listing - starting with AB.

Established in 1981 by Alan Wear and Bob Burcher, both now retired, Abico is now owned by David North and Ausure.
Over the years there have been a couple of name changes for Abico... Hannan Abico, Abico Qunton and now back to Abico. All the while the family culture, industry experience and professional service to clients remains.
Abico has a strong family culture, with the next generation of Burcher, as they have Vikki, Brook and Tyson following in Bob's footsteps all working at Abico and a young North also cutting his teeth with the team.
Many of the staff have extensive industry experience and have worked for Abico in excess of 20 years.
They specialise in all types of general insurances for businesses, construction, transport, earthmoving, cyber, public liability and trades to name a few.
Abico now has 15 staff all with access to multiple major insurance companies, a broad range of products and competitive pricing, they are able to assist their clients with their specific insurance needs.
"The core of Abico's operations is the belief that no two customers are the same. We adjust our services to meet the individual customer's requirements and the result is long-term client retention," David said.
Their strong aim is for personalised customer service and family culture, something they have striven for in all these decades.
"Some of our staff have been here for almost all the 38 years," David added.
